Imagine if you will, a world without this sin
This hideous sin that hurts and wounds so thoroughly.

Imagine if you can, no one evermore screaming through a hateful hand in vain.

Imagine if you want, that nevermore will a selfish penetration consume an innocent soul
A blinding selfish act that plunges us into the frigid cold of confusion.

Imagine with all your might, we need keep no more secrets, and our shame need never be.

Imagine if you choose, none of us are victims, and none of us are predators.

Imagine if you wish, a world that never knew this evil.
Imagine if you can, that this demon never existed in the world.

Oh, glorious thought.

Imagine for a moment, that no one was ever so overwhelmed that they ended their torment
All for the blame of a selfish body.

Imagine for awhile, no chains to be broken and no chain to carry on.
No vicious circle to be an unwitting part of.

Imagine if you will, the countless children with their innocence intact.
Imagine tender youth never wondering why and what just happened.

Imagine if you care, that we need never have felt sorrow, fear, shame nor filthiness.

Imagine if you want, a world without the pained tears and longing for numbness.
A world where no longer would seemingly everyone be touched by this scourge.

Imagine
Though I doubt you can
but try to imagine.

Imagine a world without rape.

This almost isn't a poem, but just a little something that I wrote. I hope this makes you think. Just read it, it speaks for itself and pass it on if you think others should see this.

This is a very powerful piece. This is a sensitive subject, and you were able to capture emotions and inject imagery into this in such a way that it packs a punch, but without it being overly harsh. Sadly enough, I know there are many many people that will be able to relate to this, or know someone that can, myself included. Great job. :hug:

Thanks for the kind words hun. I've been wanting to write something like this for a long long time because it bothers me so much that it is so surprisingly common. Affecting all of us either first hand or through someone we know.

If only imagination could fuel reality.

thank you very much for the kind words. I'm very glad you liked it and that it had such an impact on you :) Sadly, this is a horrible subject that effects FAR more people than we care to believe. Not too many people really think about what rape really is, and to them it is just a word. Sadly, it was for me until about two years ago when I met someone who was touched by it. This poem tries to explain that it is not just a word with minimal meaning...it is something horrible and deeply scarring. Since you like it, please pass the word along to yoru friends , I'd liek lots of people to read it, perhaps change a few frames of mind. :)

Rape.
The most vile of violations.
Taking an act of what should be love
And degrading it, rolling it in filth and violence.
Innocence lost, shame degradation and unanswered questions.
But it's just not individuals who are raped
The rape of our planet, the loss of innocence
The whole concept of RAPE, no matter to whom or to what is just frightening.

You presented it well and your compassion to those who have suffered is to be applauded.

thank you. If only rape were only a rape of the body....bodily, physical wounds can heal, and perhaps in time be forgotten.....it is the rape of the soul, of the mind, of emotions, of trust that makes it so profoundly horrible. Sadly, to many, especially the young nowadays...rape is just a word, to be tossed around lightly, just a word to be used describing sex. That is the reason I wrote this poem...rape isn't just a word..it isn't just an action, it is something more. I really wish I didn't have to write these kinds of peoms though....what a wonderful place it'd be if rape never exhisted....imagine.

Excellent job, I can feel your passion perfectly through your words. This really is wonderful, I mean, some poems create images or sensations, but this truly transcends that and illustrates real passion, real soulful intensity. Great job :D

thank you very much, What can I say, the subject matter has touched me several times over and I have become very familiar with the pain and suffering is causes. Thank you very much for your kind words, I'm glad this poem trancends in your eyes from a written piece,to something deeper. That was what I was going after, amongst other things.
